Control of building development in B93 is managed by Solihull Council.
Anyone wishing to make significant changes to a home or building or change the use of a shop or office is likely to need planning permission. There is the facility to object to proposed developments. The Council will advise immediate neighbours of any planning application and give time for objections to be lodged. Major proposed developments, eg new housing estates or significant retail or office developments, will be given exposure in the local press. Major applications are determined by the Planning Comnmittee which meets in the Council's Civic Suite. The public are allowed to attend and hear the debate. An objector is allowed to allowed to address the Committee, on prior request, for a maximum of three minutes. The Local Development Framework outlines the Council's strategy for the use of land in the area, and identifies areas of potential housing, business and retail development, conservation areas potential road development etc. there are three sites in B93 currently identified for potential significant housing development:
- Land between Crabmill Close, Knowle and Knowle FC's ground
- Land between the Middlefield Estate in Knowle and Arden Academy
- Land between Four Ashes Road, Widney Road and Bentley Heath Recreation Ground
